One Second Everyday | 2017

I wanted to document a 1 second video clip every single day for one year! I started January 1st and ended on December 31st. It was definitely a challenge to keep up with some of the days but I DID IT. I love being able to take pictures and videos of amazing things or even just simple boring things that happen in my life.

I’m sharing this a little later than I wanted to but here it is! I wasn’t going to keep the original audio but I thought I would keep it raw then later decide to add a little background music to it so enjoy! I can’t wait to see what this next year brings for me because after doing this video I’ll be doing another one (:

Something to Celebrate

Usually I post on Sunday’s but today is a special day. Today marks the one year anniversary from when my dad had heart surgery. I didn’t even realize that it was on St. Patrick’s Day last year but then again I wasn’t really aware of a lot of things last year. Since my dad was on dialysis, he was in the process of getting on the kidney transplant list. But because he had to have heart surgery he was unable to actually be put on the list.

Now that it has been a year since his heart surgery, the cardiologist said his heart has been able to get stronger and he can go back to getting on the kidney transplant list. Which makes me happy to hear because dialysis can take a lot out of my dad on some days and it makes it hard for our family to travel anywhere.

Of course it’s not that simple. After getting on the waiting list it takes about 3 to 5 years for a person to get a kidney. Which is very discouraging to hear because who wants to wait that long for a loved one to be healthy again. But then again it all could be worse. Because of my dad having to get heart surgery that set him back a year of being on the list. I could be angry about that (which I have been) but what’s being angry going to do? Absolutely nothing.

All I know is that today my family and I celebrated a year of my dad’s life. Which could have gone a different way but it didn’t! Even though a lot of things have changed and my dad can’t do a lot of the thing he use to be able to, he’s still the guy that smiles so big you can’t even see his eye and laugh at his own corny jokes. I’m so incredibly thankful he is still here!!

Terrific Twos | Happy Birthday Rooney

I’ve had two dogs in the past that were family dogs and that stayed outside because of my mom’s allergies as well as mine. I never let that stop me from loving them! But I always wanted a dog that I could cuddle with in bed on those lazy Sundays and rainy days. A dog that I had full responsibility for, teach it cool tricks, and call my own. Luckily I got Rooney who happens to fit those descriptions.

So two years ago I dabbled with the idea of getting my own pup. Not thinking that it would actually happen but I guess the big guy upstairs thought it would be a good idea for me to have a canine companion of my own. Since I’ve had Rooney it has hands down been the best two years with him. To show him how much I appreciate and love him (not that I don’t already spoil him on an everyday basis) I thought I would go all out for his special day.

Yes, I am very much aware how ridiculous it may seem to go all out for a dog’s birthday but I don’t care. If you can’t go all out and celebrate your dog’s special day then what is life? Although Rooney hated the crown that was on his head and could barely sit still while I took his photo, he really enjoyed the pupcakes and I’ll always be able to smile and treasure these photos forever!

It took Roon everything in him to not jump over to his pupcakes

I need to work on my icing skills

Pupcake  Recipe (Makes 9) :

  • 1 cup flour
  • 1/3 cup oats
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1 ripe banana
  • 1 egg
  • 1 cup shredded carrots
  • 1/3 cup peanut butter
  • 1/4 cup coconut oil
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 1 tsp pure vanilla extract

  • 2 low-fat plain cream cheese
  • smooth peanut butter
  • Dog teats

Preheat oven at 335°F and line cupcake tin with cupcake liners. Mix all ingredients in a bowl and evenly distribute in the cupcake liners. Bake for 15-20 minutes and leave to cool before icing. For the frosting you can mix peanut butter and cream cheese together and put a spoonful on top of the cakes or do what I did and use a piping bag, spread two lines of peanut butter on the sides of the bag and then spoon in the cream cheese. Make sure your cream cheese is room temperature or else you will have a hard time icing your cupcakes like I did!! I used a star icing nozzle and in a circular motion attempted to pipe like a pro. And finally add your dog treat on top. Serve to your dog and enjoy!

Hello World!

With a new year comes new beginnings. I have had a lot of things happen in my life these past few years some good and some bad. I couldn’t help but dwell on the bad things that happen, I tried not to show it but it started to bring me down. This year is a fresh start so I wanted to start this blog to share the joys of my life that are going to happen. Starting a personal blog was something I went back and forth about. Love it or hate it these are just some of the things that go on in my head. It’s also be a way for me to express some of my opinions and try to provide more positivity to this world!
